I_Butterfly

I_Butterfly is a nationwide festival of self-guided bike tours that will follow the monarch butterfly paths during the summer/fall migration season. I_Butterfly is focused on the interconnectivity of monarch butterfly restoration, green memorial grounds and bicycles. Since 2019 our group has been working with green burial grounds and conservation cemeteries to reintroduce native milkweed (the host-plant of the monarch butterfly) to aid in monarch butterfly restoration. This effort will support our environment and help people during difficult periods of their lives by sending butterflies to memorial services. Butterflies are viewed as a symbol of rebirth, transformation, hope and positivity. They contribute to the health and sustainability of our planet by pollinating a vast variety of wildflowers and are an essential, yet dwindling food source for many birds, small animals and other insects. For information or to participate in our festival please visit ibutterfly.net.
