CAPTAIN AHAB’S MOTORCYCLE CLUB is an open global arts collaborative that began in April 2012 with a collection of visual artwork that was generated to support the collaborative's identity. Moby Dick themed chapter patches were designed by artists throughout the world while graphic narratives were also explored. A fantastic collection of illustrations and animation was created.A musical component helped to establish our collective through concerts and live events. An original collection of songs was posted online. Each track of these recordings could be downloaded individually, including scratch vocals, and used by collaborators to create their own unique mixes. Every mix that was created was performed karaoke style by Cory McAbee at concerts throughout Europe, Australia, the UK and the US. Musical groups participated by performing live sets without the recordings.The end goal was to develop an open collaborative that could produce elements for a feature film. The final product, Deep Astronomy and the Romantic Sciences, premiered on September 20, 2022 at the Alamo Drafthouse Theater in lower Manhattan. This film will be distributed in the same manner that it was created.
